主として洪水用に設計した照明装置であるが地震などの災害にも使える。単純で作りやすく安価な要素に基づいたコンセプトで、救援ヘリコプターから何千とばらまくのである。（直径4ｃｍの）密封した球で、LED、電池（寿命約100時間）及びスイッチを内部に持つプラスチック製である。
スイッチは三種類ある。
1. 固定デイライトスイッチ
2. 慣性スイッチ
3. イリジウムセンサー又はにおいセンサーに基づくスイッチ
要素（球）には特別な接点があり線状に、又はいろいろな形のグループに結合でき、被災者がいろいろな使い方ができるようになっている。

"Hope light" is a light system designed mainly for floods, but may also be used in cases of earthquakes and other disasters. The concept is based on a simple, easy to manufacture and cheap element, which would be dropped from rescue helicopters in thousands of pieces. It will be a hermetic ball (4cm diameter) made of plastic with a LED, battery (about 100 hours life) and a switch inside.
Three variants of switches will be available:
1. Fixed daylight switch activated in darkness.
2. Inertial switch activated when dropped with additional manual switch to turn on and off manually.
3. Switch based on IR sensor or odor sensor activated when close to people.
The elements will have special joints allowing to connect number of them in lines, or group in various shapes giving number of usage possibilities for victims of the disaster.
