災害に対して、一般的な事前準備として用意される非常用非難袋であるが、その中には多くのものが入っているために｢重い｣、｢大きすぎる｣など、非難時に不便な点が多々ある。また、災害時にしか使用しないそのような備品を、すべての家庭が所有、購入するとは限らないという問題もある。そこで私が提案するのが、あかりとしての機能を果たすペットボトルキャップ『pet×pet』である。シンプルな構造と、持ち運びや収納に便利な「小型」という特長を持ちながらも、ペットボトルの容器と中に入った液体が光を拡散させるために広範囲への照射が可能である。また、小型、低価格という利点を生かして、ペットボトル飲料のおまけとして販売、あるいは配給することで、普及率の向上が期待できる。外観に関しては災害時のみの使用を避けるため日常でも楽しめるようなデザインを目指した。

Bags for emergencies, filled with too many things, tend to be too heavy, too big to carry. You can’t expect all the households always to be equipped with such bags, which might be useful only in time of disasters. That is why I suggest a "pet X pet" -- a PET bottle cap which performs the function of a light.
It is of a simple structure, small and easy to store or carry. The bottle and the liquid inside spread the light illuminating widely. It can be sold or delivered as a giveaway of a bottled drink and thus will get more and more popular. I also tried designing it to look easy enough for everyday use.
