点字ブロックには多くの問題点がある。例えば、上に障害物が置かれていたり、材質・寸法・色が統一されていなかったり、無意味な所にまで設置されていたりしている。どうしてこんな事になってしまったのか。
それは健常者の点字ブロックに対する意識と理解が乏しいからだと思う。そこで光る点字ブロックを考えた。「何で光っているんだろうか？」とか「こんなもの光らせても無駄だ。」とか批判されるかもしれない。しかし、それでいいと思う。そうやって何かしら感じてもらうことが重要なのだ。そして少しずつ理解が広がって目の不自由な人も安心して歩けるようになれば素敵なことだと思う。

The studded paving block has a lot of problems. For example, people often put obstacle on it. There is no standardization of its material, size or color. You find it installed even where it is not necessary at all. All of these have been caused by the poor understanding of, or the lack of consciousness of the installation in the part of the seeing.
While thinking over it, there came an idea to me – a light emitting block! It might provoke some criticism on its use, but it doesn’t matter, if my design leads to a better understanding of the situation, so that the blind can walk along much more.
