今回は、照明器具が持つ機能面をデザインすることよりも、光そのものをより美しく見せることに力を入れました。何か行為を行なうためだけに必要とされる照明器具ではなく、見たい・楽しみたいといった気持ちから使ってもらえるような照明器具を目指したからです。スリットを多く入れることで、今までの紙のランプシェードには無かった、つぼみのような柔らかな曲面を持つ美しいプロポーションを作ることが可能になりました。

This time I put more emphasis on making the lamp itself look beautiful rather than on designing a functional lighting equipment. My Idea is to produce one which people feel like using, not just for its practical use but for their appreciation and enjoyment of it. A lot of slits on the shade gives the lamp beautiful proportion with a curved surface as tender as that of a flower bud which no paper shade has ever had before.
