第6回 審査員講評 1993/6th Discussion Forum |
Head Juror Kenji Ekuan (Industrial Designer) I think we need to strive to divorce ecology from the impression of poverty. I can also see the side searching for the way of light in some works that stimulates us as adults. This is probably because the confrontation between the artificial and the natural are well displayed. Jury Panel Kiyoshi Awazu (Graphic Designer) Moving toward the "Light and Environment" of the new century, the level of this competition has gradually increased. At the same time, the number of prominent pieces of work has decreased. This may simply be the result of the post-modern flow but, could it not also be the result of an independence that is not strong enough in the foundation of the individual creators? Kiyonori Kikutake ( Architect) For Japan, it has only been 100 years since light came into the world and I feel that the best relationship between artificial and natural light is not yet understood. I think we definitely should think about the relationship between natural and artificial light. Until now, artificial light has imitated natural light. But, I think it has somewhat different characteristics. Shoei Yoh (Architect) When thinking about the quality of light, I don't think concern is given to light sources. As a proposal, when thinking about the way of light, we should consider light sources and the illumination as a future application in addition to fixtures. Paolo Lomazzi (Industrial Designer) I would like to point out a problem. Since the designated theme was ecology, a technical direction developed and some consideration of the quality of light was lost. I would like people to think a little more about what light is in real terms. Angelo Cortesi (Industrial Designer) We need to return to the origin and, for the poor third world societies with no electricity or light, consider what needs to be done to obtain artificial light. |
