吉田／光は人の命を左右する生命線となり得ます。阪神大震災のような災害のとき、それははっきりします。いつ起こるか全くわからない災害に対する防災のために、今すぐにでも欲しいもの、と考えた結果こうなりました。

For us human beings, there are times when light can become a lifeline that determines the difference between life and death, a fact which can be clearly seen at times such as that of the Great Hanshin Earthquake. The intent here was to create a light that would act as a sort of lifeline at these times; what you see here is the result of what I believed to be what people would most immediately want to protect themselves from the harm that could come at any moment.
