新しい力よ、どこまでも照らせ、未来を

　学生による照明デザインを題材とした「コイズミ国際学生照明デザインコンペ（ILDC）」は、今回でちょうど25回目を迎えることとなりました。この間に応募いただいた学生の総数は33,000人を超え、その国数も42カ国を数えるまでになりました。ここまで長く続けることができ、ここまで大きなコンペに育ったことを私たちは誇りに思います。これもひとえに、審査員の先生方、業界関係者の方々、各学校の先生方の心強いサポートのおかげと、あらためて御礼申し上げます。また、入賞された方々の多くは、さまざまな国の各分野でデザイナーとして現在活躍されておられます。このコンペ自身、照明にたずさわる「若き人材の育成」を目的にスタートしたことを思えば、十二分にそのミッションを満たしたのではと自負しております。

　また、2003年第16回「コイズミ国際学生照明デザインコンペ（ILDC）」においては、過去上位入選したもののなかから創造性豊かな作品を「i-ACTION」と名づけ、製品化いたしました。学生と企業とのパートナーシップと若い優れた才能を広く社会に知らせる事ができたこの試みは、各方面より多くの関心が寄せられました。この試みはさらに発展を遂げ、世界の著名デザイナーとのワールドコラボレートプロジェクト「D-ACTION」プロダクツにおいて、第9 回 銀賞受賞者Sara Dal Gallo（サラ・ダル・ガロ）氏の「CAMMINO（カンミーノ）」シリーズを発表し、大きく成長していくクリエイターとのコラボーレーションとして、さらなる広がりを見せています。

　いま、世界中の学生たちは、環境への配慮も念頭に置きながら、エネルギッシュで夢あふれる作品を生みだしています。その情熱を毎年ひしひしと感じることが、照明にたずさわる私たちの良い刺激と歓びへつながっています。私どもはこれからも、新しい発想で未来を照らしていく世界中の学生たちの夢と感性を支え続けたい。

　「コイズミ国際学生照明デザインコンペ」は一旦終了しますが、今後とも、皆さまのご支援を賜りますよう、心よりお願い申し上げます。

Koizumi International Lighting Design Competition for Students (ILDC) that accepts submission of lighting design by students celebrated the 25th anniversary this year. Over the 25 years, more than 33,000 students have submitted their works from 42 countries. We are proud to have been able to continue the tradition this long, and to see the event grow this big. This would not have been possible without the strong support from the jury, professionals in related industries and teachers at each school. I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to them. I am happy to say that many of the award winners have become successful designers in various fields worldwide. The initial purpose of this competition was to foster a young generation of designers working in lighting, and I believe we have successfully achieved this goal.

Also, we launched a product series called i-ACTION at the 16th competition in 2003, where we chose some of the most creative works from past high-rated award winners for commercialization. This project successfully displayed the collaboration between students and a corporation, and also the excellence of young talents. It received quite a lot of attention from various fields. This further evolved into an international collaboration project with globally renowned designers called D-ACTION Products, in which Mｓ. Sara Dal Gallo, the former Silver Award winner from the 9th competition, released CAMMINO series. It was wonderful to work with a growing creator who started with our competition.

Today, students around the world are producing energetic, romantic works while addressing the protection of the environment. It was such a pleasure and inspiration to be able to feel their passion every year. We would like to continue our support for students in various countries and help them illuminate our future with new ideas.
