あかりで闇をつくる未知のあかりを探す		To create darkness with lighting To seek an unknown lighting
募集テーマ：「Lighting Ecology　―ひかり、そのありかを求めて」		Theme: "Lighting Ecology - Where a true light can be found"
11回目を迎え、20名の入賞者のうち13名が海外勢と、国際コンペとして定着してきたことが伺える応募状況だった。全体の傾向としては、「環境」志向のコンセプトに禁欲的に縛られずに、アーティスティックな志向をもつ作品が目についた。コンペの本旨を考えれば、工業製品化できるという原点を再認識する必要性を感じさせた。そのような中で、金賞を受賞した「UPDOWN」は、作るにあたっても使うにあたっても、シンプルで、しかも人間を幸せにする、「工業デザインの粋」を印象づけるものだった。		By having the 11th Competition, the event showed the sign it had steadily settled as an international　competition with having application status, of 20 prize winners, 13 were from　abroad. The trend as a whole, the works with artistic intention not restrained by an environmental　issue, were highly visible. It was found that the gist of the competition should be　reviewed for the sake of marketable feasibility of an awarded work. Among those works, the gold awarded“ UPDOWN” impressed the core of industrial design that is simple and making　users happy either being produced or used.
